Weekly Diaries / Planners 2019. They are hand made from recycled materials and each piece is unique.
Our goal is to salvage and transform, as much as possible, previously used materials that are no longer needed and are intended for disposal. By directly recycling them we extend their life cycle. In this way, we try to discourage the consumption of other natural resources and make do with what is already available.
We manufacture covers from materials that would otherwise become waste, including plastic canisters used to store various chemicals (washing up liquids, oils, fabric softeners, washer fl uids etc.) or plastic lids from paints or from old glazing foils. The contents of the planner (hand-laid pages; paper wraps from food, old magazines, milk cartons, advertising scrap paper and others) would also otherwise end up in the dustbin.
Covers have been produced for many years by the sheltered workshop Salet o.s., focused on the integration of people with health and mental disorder (www.salet.cz), which unfortunately had to suspend operations in Prague due to lack of fi nance. Therefore, the covers are currently being manufactured in the Becalel workshop (social enterprise).
The diaries are printed in the KARMÁŠEK s.r.o. on recycled paper and according to strict environmental standards. They are produced in the A6 paper format (in three language versions).
We have found a way of binding the diary together so that the contents can be easily removed from the cover (by cutting the rubber band on the spine) and exchanged for the following year’s edition.
As usual, the theme of this year’s diary is animals – they will accompany you each week of the year. This year, we have again decided to focus on the endangered species on the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species. These are for the most part critically endangered species, facing a high risk of extinction in the near future.
In addition to standard data (public holidays, the phases of the Moon, the signs of the Zodiac, coming lunar eclipses, etc.) the KA_LEN_DIAR provides useful information about non-profi t organizations, ecology, human rights, geography and history.
The “Little Pocket Guide” provides basic fi rst aid instructions, a list of currently available cruelty-free cosmetics and skincare products, a list of vegetarian restaurants in major European cities, a seasonal harvesting guide for Central Europe, a basic Sun Salutation workout, a Japanese origami how-to, DIY tips, a few geography pointers (including maps), section Survival Basics, as well as a table where you can copy the schedule of your public transport service. We have also included a memo pad.
The coming year has 525 600 minutes and KA_LEN_DIAR sincerely wishes you the best in all of them.
